Cleanroom Projects

Located in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, this project involved the design and installation of a metal-free cleanroom adhering to ISO-6 (Class 1000) standards. Completed in 2021, the project posed unique challenges due to its location in a heritage building, requiring minimal structural modifications. Additionally, height constraints in the conditioned space had to be managed with innovative design solutions to maintain an optimal ceiling height. The HVAC system was engineered to function seamlessly across extreme temperatures, ranging from 2°C in winter to 45°C in summer, while ensuring 24x7x365 operation with automated fault detection and system redundancy.

This Class 10,000 cleanroom was developed for the Department of Earth Sciences at CSIR-NIO, Goa. The system has been running successfully for over five years and will complete its milestone in 2025. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic lockdown, the project was completed without delays, meeting ISO-7 standards with precision and efficiency. Today, it serves as a vital research facility, used by students and scientists across India, contributing to advancements in Earth Sciences.

This project involved the restoration of a research laboratory that had been non-operational for the past eight years. As per the client's requirements, the lab was designed to meet ISO-6 (Class 1000) standards, requiring extensive modifications to the existing ductwork to achieve the required air changes per hour (ACH) and pressure balancing. Despite significant challenges, the project was successfully completed within just 55 days, reviving the laboratory into a fully operational, high-performance cleanroom.

Area Developed for New Capsule Filling – Cleanroom Class 100,000
The turnkey project involved the complete transformation of the designated area into a Cleanroom Class 100,000 facility for capsule filling operations. The scope of work included:

• Dismantling of the existing HVAC ducts and associated infrastructure
• Design and execution of a new HVAC system compliant with cleanroom standards
• Installation of modular wall paneling to maintain controlled environmental conditions
• Application of pharmaceutical-grade epoxy flooring to meet hygiene and GMP requirements

The project was executed as a comprehensive turnkey solution, ensuring seamless integration of all services for optimal performance and regulatory compliance.

VAC System for Dispensing Booth – Cleanroom Class 100,000
A dedicated HVAC system was developed for the dispensing booth within a Class 100,000 cleanroom environment. One of the major challenges encountered during execution was navigating a highly complex network of existing ducts located above the false ceiling. Despite the spatial and structural constraints, the system was successfully designed and installed.
A key performance requirement was maintaining relative humidity below 40%, critical for ensuring material stability and contamination control. This specification was successfully achieved through precise system design, proper selection of dehumidification components, and meticulous commissioning.

For IISER Bhopal, we designed and installed a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility, incorporating both ISO-6 (Class 1000) and ISO-7 (Class 10,000) environments. Similar to the IIT Roorkee project, this facility required a highly adaptable HVAC system to maintain a constant internal temperature between 21°C and 23°C, despite external temperature variations ranging from 8°C in winter to 43°C in summer. The system was also engineered to handle varying exhaust loads, ensuring uninterrupted efficiency even when all three fume hoods operated simultaneously.
